We are finally here, though sadly, Week 18 (the season finale) is a meaningless game for the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams. Dang that Week 5 loss by Seattle to the three-win New York Giants. Otherwise, Seattle might have made the final game of the regular season a battle for the playoffs. Instead, that loss proved as costly as any other Seattle would have this season.
Knowing the Rams had clinched a playoff spot while Seattle sat home, the inactive list for Week 18 was expected to be a lot longer for Los Angeles. Why risk their key players to injury when it knew it was going to be playing in the first week of the postseason? Players such as quarterback Matthew Stafford should be rested for a week before playing in more meaningful games.
Seattle should win in Week 18 simply because the team will be playing a lot of its starters versus a lot of Rams backups. A loss by the Seahawks might only further prove that Los Angeles has some kind of jinx over their northern neighbors. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald deserves that 10th victory, though. He should get it versus the Rams.

Seattle could have sat a bunch of starters as well. Why risk those players still under contract for 2025 to an injury that could affect the next season? Well, there are incentives to be had, of course. Quarterback Geno Smith could earn another $6 million with a good game against the Rams.
Ultimately, while a win or a loss by Seattle in Week 18 might not matter in playoff standing, it does matter to 12s. The fans always want Seattle to win, right? Plus, a victory against the Rams always feels good.
