Seattle Seahawks fans knew that their favorite team was going to be slightly diminished from the form the team displayed at the end of last season when it won its Super Bowl. Free agents left, sure, but injuries had already affected the roster in training camp and the preseason.
Gone for the year are fan-favorite wide receiver Jake Bobo, rookie safety Bud Clark, and fullback Robbie Ouzts, among others. Running back Zach Charbonnet was starting the season on the physically unable to perform list due to a knee injury suffered in the playoffs last year.
Besides those players, Seattle knew it would not have starting safety Ty Okada, who suffered a hamstring injury before the season. Has he been hurt earlier in camp, he might be fine. The timing of his ailment is simply unfortunate, and he should return to play soon.
Seattle Seahawks announce inactives for Week 1 versus the New England Patriots
The Seahawks likely assumed they wouldn't have fellow safety Nick Emmanwori and second-year wide receiver Tory Horton either. Emmanwori hasn't practiced fully since having ankle surgery in July. The hope is that he can return in the next few games.
Horton appears to nearly always be hurt at this point. He injured his knee in his final season of college, but was able to play at the start of last year. He then hurt his shin and missed the second half of Seattle's title-winning campaign. Like Okada, he is dealing with a hamstring issue. His timeline for return is unknown, as Mike Macdonald doesn't like giving out specific injury details.
Otherwise, Seattle is somewhat healthy, though it is also just the start of the season. The team cannot afford to lose too many more key players after losing 2025 starters running back Kenneth Walker, cornerback Riq Woolen, edge rusher Boye Mafe, and safety Coby Bryant in free agency.
The Seattle Seahawks inactives for Week 1 versus the New England Patriots:
