As all Seattle Seahawks fans know, the team is up for sale. According to Front Office Sports, one person linked as a potential buyer is Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The website reports, "Five sources familiar with the matter tell Front Office Sports they’ve heard Zuckerberg is considering a bid."

The founder of Facebook certainly has more than enough money needed to buy an NFL team. Zuckerberg has a reported net worth, according to various sites, of north of $200 billion. Zuckerberg could buy several teams with that amount of cash.

No one knows for sure how much the Seahawks might sell for, but the expected amount is somewhere between $6-9 billion. Chmp change for Zuckerberg. Of course, no official word has come from the head of Meta, but why would there be? The more others know about what he plans to do in business only levels up the competition involved.

What 12s cannot know is how differently the organization would be run with Zuckerberg in charge. Under Paul Allen, and then his sister, Jody, the team had a reputation for treating all of its employees with respect, no matter whether they were players on the team or the janitorial staff. It is one of the facets of the team that fans can be proud of.

Not that Mark Zuckerberg might change the culture of the team, of course. Maybe the franchise keeps running in much the same manner, no matter who eventually buys the team.

Buying an NFL team is also a smart business move for one who can afford it. Teams' values are only going to increase, so it's a smart investment. Zuckerberg's billions aren't short-term, either.

He is going to be wealthy for the rest of his life, and so will his children's children's children for the money they inherit from the business Zuckerberg created. Those great-grandchildren could eventually be Seahawks owners, too.

A couple of things to keep in mind with Front Office Sports' reporting of the rumor of Mark Zuckerberg weighing putting in a bid for the Seattle Seahawks. One is that NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport aren't yet reporting the same thing. The other is that simply weighing whether to put in a bid or not doesn't mean that it will become a reality.

Front Office Sports also reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook might also be thinking of bidding on the team. His net worth is far less than Zuckerberg's, however, and he might need assistance with purchasing the team.
