Who could it be now?

Klint Kubiak is leaving the Seattle Seahawks. After just one season with the team, he deserves a promotion. He has three years of experience as an offensive coordinator in the NFL, and his best job coaching might have been this year. After all, the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.

Now, Kubiak is taking the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching position, where he will replace former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll bounced out of Vegas after one awful season. He is likely done coaching in the league. Kubiak's career is likely closer to the beginning.

That means Seattle needs to find a new offensive coordinator. According to multiple reports, most recently by Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle is looking to hire from within to replace the outgoing OC. As the Seahawks assumed Kubiak was leaving for a bit, the replacement might already have been lined up.

But who might it be? The two most obvious options are passing game coordinator Jake Peetz and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko. Each has more than 10 years of coaching experience in the NFL. Peetz, specifically, has been one of the hotter names among potential coaches in the league who could be next promoted to OC somewhere.

He has spent two years with the team, but before that, he worked under Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay as an offensive assistant and passing game specialist. Head coach Mike Macdonald obviously respects his fellow NFC West coaches and understands that McVay or San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan are great teacher of their systems.

Janocko has worked in many offensive coaching positions in his career. He was the co-offensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018, then the wide receivers coach for the Vikings in 2020, and then the quarterbacks coach in 2021.

He held the same role with the Chicago Bears from 2022 through 2023, the same position with the New Orleans Saints in 2024 (working with Kubiak when Kubiak was the offensive coordinator for New Orleans), and then the QB coach for the Seahawks this year.

Klint Kubiak taking Janocko with him to the Las Vegas Raiders as their offensive coordinator makes sense, too, of course. Peetz might stick with the Seattle Seahawks as their OC. Or, and 12s should know the answer very soon, one of the other coaches currently on Mike Macdonald's staff will be the new OC.
