As the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks don't have that many glaring needs. They made some minor moves and kept most of their core this offseason, so they should be in a strong position next year.
Nevertheless, even the best things can be better. The Seahawks didn't get to this point by just going through the motions, and general manager John Schneider should keep an eye out for whoever is left in the market.
Considering that, and given the concerns surrounding Anthony Bradford, the Seahawks should at least explore the possibility of making a run at Kevin Zeitler. He's still got plenty left in the tank, and he could give this team a solid stopgap at right guard.
Kevin Zeitler makes perfect sense for the Seattle Seahawks
Even at the ripe age of 36, Zeitler continues to perform at an above-average level. While he won't pop up on the film, that's usually a good thing for guards, and he's coming off drawing the 11th-highest Pro Football Focus grade last season (74.5).
Per their premium stats (subscription required), he allowed just 16 pressures on 590 pass-blocking snaps for the struggling Tennessee Titans last season.
Also, we're talking about a true workhorse here. Zeitler rarely takes a play off, giving his team a reliable veteran presence. His pass-blocking grade (75.4) was the ninth-highest in the league, and while Spotrac projects his market value at $9.2 million, he'd probably agree to take a pay cut to pay for the best team in football.
The Seahawks don't have many weak links on their roster, but Anthony Bradford has yet to live up to the expectations.
The offensive line's interior would benefit from better blocking. Bradford drew the fifth-worst pass-blocking grade (40.8) among 81 eligible guards, and while Grey Zabel showed glimpses of strong play in his first year in the league, there will be a learning curve and some growing pains with all young players.
Adding Beau Stephens to the mix may have given this team another reliable option to take over Bradford's spot, but he might need some time before being ready to be thrown into the fire. Zeitler, on the other hand, would be a plug-and-play proven veteran who could give Sam Darnold the clean pocket he needs to make sound decisions, not to mention a mentor for Zabel and Stephens.
The Seahawks have the money and the need, so this is an obvious fit.
