Seahawks' perfect Anthony Bradford replacement just fell into Mike Macdonald's lap

Just make the deal...

Anthony Bradford, right guard of the Seattle Seahawks, might be a good person. What he hasn't shown to he is a good player. He's been given every opportunity to start for three seasons in Seattle, and the experiment needs to end.

The hope was that Bradford would find himself this season under the new direction of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton. In the first game of the season, he was fine. Since he has regressed to his mean, and that's a bad thing.

Through seven games, Bradford has allowed the fourth-most quarterback pressures in the NFL among right guards (17). He isn't being called for as many penalties this season compared to last, but that only means he is even less efficient. He simply doesn't pass protect well.

Titans right guard Kevin Zeitler would be a perfect replacement for Seattle Seahawks' Anthony Bradford

Overall, the Seahawks' offensive line is better. Bradford is the outlier. The problem is that Seattle seemingly has no player on the current roster to replace him.

According to Titans insider Justin Melo, though, Tennessee might be looking to ship some players away. One of those is right guard Kevin Zeitler. Zeitler is 35 years old and certainly isn't a long-term option for Seattle, but he doesn't need to be.

He is signed through only this season, but he would almost certainly upgrade Seattle's line. Even in something of a down year, Zeitler (who has allowed seven total pressures) is still better than most of the other right guards in the NFL. As a half-season rental, he would be a steal. Seattle could then draft a guard next year or sign one in free agency.

The key is that the Seattle Seahawks are 5-2 with a very real chance of making a deep run in the playoffs. The offense has been extremely efficient, and except for Week 5, the defense has been elite. That is the case even though the defense has missed a lot of key players due to injury.

With better play from right guard, Seattle's offensive line would go from slightly better than mediocre to good. The team has no obvious weaknesses, other than maybe veteran depth at wide receiver. Bradford, however, is a specific weakness.

The Seattle Seahawks also wouldn't need to spend much draft capital for an aging player in the final year of his current deal on a bad team. A late-round draft pick might be enough. That is definitely worth doing for Kevin Zeitler and having him immediately replace Anthony Bradford.
