Seahawks may already regret what they're seeing from Bobby Hart

He's definitely on the bubble now.

The Seattle Seahawks lost their first preseason game to the Dallas Cowboys in a matchup that wasn't all that impressive. Granted, the team that Seattle will trot onto the field against the New England Patriots in Week 1 was vastly different than the team that faced the Cowboys. Nevertheless, it wasn't pretty.

There were a handful of shaky performances, but some wins for a handful of players looking to make a mark for themselves as well. One of those players who shook things up was 10-year NFL veteran Bobby Hart, who signed with Seattle as a free agent on a one-year deal.

The Seahawks don't have any major plans for Hart other than to provide depth on the offensive line, but the offensive line can never have too much depth, which automatically offers Hart a real chance at making the team. That said, his preseason dud against the Cowboys was enough to make the decision-makers on the sideline and upstairs question Hart's immediate future.

NFL journeyman Bobby Hart's preseason showing was enough for the Seattle Seahawks to call it

Hart came to Seattle as his sixth NFL franchise in 10 years. The veteran began his career with the New York Giants, then spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, and most recently, the Los Angeles Chargers. Hart has failed to stick with a team past two seasons, and it doesn't look like he'll make it that far with the Seahawks.

Hart looked vulnerable and unprepared playing with the Seahawks' second-team against the Cowboys this past weekend. He allowed multiple sacks, two to be exact, and multiple quarterback pressures on his side of the line. His pass protection was not impressive, and he struggled to contain Dallas pass rushers Malachi Lawrence, a rookie, and James Houston.

For someone like Hart, who didn't have a guaranteed roster spot when the Seahawks signed him in June, a preseason disaster like the one he just had could be enough for Seattle to know the result of this experiment quickly.

While depth on the offensive line would be an asset, it shouldn't come at the expense of a player who didn't play a single snap in 2023 or 2024 and was used sparingly with the Chargers last season.

The good thing for the Seahawks is they don't need Hart because of a significant loss that occurred in the offseason. In fact, Seattle returned all of their starting offensive line from last year. What also hurts Hart is that his training camp was reportedly not impressive either. Perhaps the Seahawks wanted to see him in a game against another opponent.

Well, they saw, and now they will have to decide if they want to see again. Hart was on the bubble to make Seattle's roster before the Cowboys matchup, but he's certainly on it now. If he receives another chance in Seattle's second preseason game, Hart can't have a repeat of last Saturday.
