Seahawks should send Ravens this bold trade offer after they gave away Odafe Oweh

Why not take a chance?

The Seattle Seahawks have a new need that 12s might have seen coming for a long time, only for different reasons than what occurred. The team's edge rusher group is a bit of a mess currently, but there might also be a quick fix. General manager John Schneider simply needs to ask.

Many Seahawks fans might have assumed Uchenna Nwosu would get injured somewhat soon after starting the season. That is not meant as a swipe toward Nwosu; 12s have simply gotten used to that happening over the last two seasons.

Instead, Nwosu has stayed healthy and productive, and so has Boye Mafe. It is with DeMarcus Lawrence and Derick Hall that the issues have occurred. Both are currently injured. Lawrence could return soon, but Hall, who hurt his oblique in Week 5, could be out a while.

The Seattle Seahawks should ask the Baltimore Ravens if Kyle Van Noy is available

There has never been a better time than now to reunite head coach Mike Macdonald with one of his former players with the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore appears to be in selling mode even after just five games. The Ravens shipped Odafe Oweh, an impending free agent, to the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this week.

Oweh had not produced much this season, but did have 10 sacks in 2024. But he isn't the Seahawks' concern.

Instead, Schneider should give the Ravens a call and see if Kyle Van Noy is available. The edge rusher is also in the final year of his deal, and he is 34 years old, but he also wouldn't be expected to be a long-term option for the Seahawks. He could be a good piece for 2025, though.

Van Noy seemed to be completely unlocked by Macdonald after joining the Ravens in 2023 when Seattle's head coach was the defensive coordinator with Baltimore. The edge rusher had a career-high 9.5 sacks, and he passed that last season with 12.

In other words, Van Noy is still a very good player who is playing some of the best football of his life in the last couple of seasons. He is also relatively affordable with a per-game roster bonus of $500,000. The Seahawks can easily afford that.

The trade wouldn't be overly expensive either. A mid-to-late round draft pick might be all that is needed to add Van Noy. He would be a natural and immediate fit into Macdonald's scheme, and even if the Seattle Seahawks' top-four edge rushers currently get back to full health, adding Kyle Van Noy just gives the team another good player at an important position.
