The Seattle Seahawks will need key contributions from guys who have typically been role players in their careers so far. Now in his second year with the team, this player will likely get a chance to step into a much bigger role for Seattle in 2025.
All you Bama fans, don't get too excited. I'm not talking about Jalen Milroe here; I did say second-year player, after all. Now, this is where I'd typically insert an insult aimed at the Tuscaloosa faithful, as I'm a long-time fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. But, hey, thanks for reading about the Seahawks. Here's some good stuff about your guy. For the record, I think he has a very bright future in Seattle.
I believe another player has a bright future with the Seahawks as well. Milroe may be in for a few plays against the Saints, but that's likely the limit; a few, as in three or four at the most. Granted, he has the arm and the legs to make any of those a big play. But the guy I'm focusing on may be called on a dozen times. And he's already proven to be a big-play player.
Seattle Seahawks RB George Holani could explode again versus the Saints
As we know, the injury report for the Seahawks is looking a bit grim. Things could be very tough in the secondary. Julian Love, Nick Emmawori, and Devon Witherspoon are all listed as doubtful. That makes it all the more important for Riq Woolen to step up his game.
At least undrafted free agent Josh Jobe has been amazing so far. Like Jobe, Holani wasn't picked up in the draft. And like Jobe, he's proving that was a pretty serious mistake.
He hasn't gotten much of a chance to show what he can do in the backfield during the regular season yet, but he was clearly a standout in the preseason. He's always shown promise in Seattle, but a crowded roster has limited his playing time. But with Kenny McIntosh out for the season and Zach Charbonnet doubtful, Holani will get his chances this week.
Even restricted to special teams, Holani showed what he brings to the team. He made the wildest play of the young 2025 season to key the Seahawks' Week 2 win with his heady recovery of the Seattle kickoff in the fourth quarter.
As Holani said, "We go over situations in our special teams meeting every week. We see teams who always mess up, and we don't want to be that team out there that's looking not good."
No need to worry, George. You're looking good, alright. And just in time to help the Seahawks to put another one in the win column.
