The Seattle Seahawks are the best team in the National Football League right now. They finished the job in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. No further proof of their excellence need be provided.
That said, even the best things can be improved, and this roster isn't the exception to that rule. Even in Klint Kubiak's explosive offense and with Sam Darnold silencing the critics, the offensive line left plenty to be desired.
That's especially true with the interior on the line. Considering that, Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus argued that this should be general manager John Schneider's No. 1 priority as the Seahawks prepare for the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Seattle Seahawks need to bolster the interior of the offensive line
Grey Zabel had a pretty decent season for a rookie. Still, he also needs more time to get it together, and while it's never wise to count out a first-year player, he didn't always live up to the task as a first-round pick. His run-block grade (56.3) ranked 55th among 81 eligible linemen, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required). He should be better with more reps, though.
Notably, things were even worse on the other side of the offensive line. Anthony Bradford struggled to hold his own in the trenches, and his 50.6 PFF grade ranked 70th in the league. He was even worse as a pass-protector (40.8, 76th out of 81). Perhaps they may want to give Oregon star Emmanuel Pregnon a look, as he should be available late in the first round.
Last but not least, the Seahawks could've gotten much more from Jalen Sundell. The 26-year-old was above average in pass protection (67.7, 15th out of 40), but was just okay in run-blocking (62.4, 24th out of 40). He's a good player for the most part, but this is a position the Seahawks could look to address in free agency, with a star like Tyler Linderbaum testing the market.
The Seahawks ranked 11th in the league in total rushing yards (2,096) behind teams like the New York Jets and Washington Commanders. That's despite logging the third-most rushing attempts per game (511). Their average of 4.1 yards per carry was tied for 26th in the league.
Clearly, they unsuccessfully tried to establish the run, and even though the season turned out just fine, this offense could be historically great with an improved interior offensive line.
