The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions, and the team and fans can rejoice. Memories will be long-lasting and likely never forgotten. But the team can't rest too long on his success, or the business of ball will start slipping away.

Before free agency and the draft, teams can sign players not on the active roster to reserve/future contracts. The group could be made up of practice squad players or free agents, though the players expected to make a lot of money in free agency wouldn't sign a reserve/future deal.

Those contracts are mostly league minimum and simply allow the team to keep players they think might have promise into the offseason and training camp. The Seahawks could release a player it has signed to a reserve/future agreement, of course, and not take much of a hit against the cap.

Seattle Seahawks make a flurry of reserve/future contract signings

On Thursday, four days after Seattle defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, the team signed 15 players to reserve/future contracts. Many of the names 12s will know, and a couple even got decent playing time this season.

That includes running back Velus Jones, who got some work in after Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers. He ran six times for 10 yards and played some special teams.

Cam Akers is a veteran who began his career with the Los Angeles Rams. He played a few snaps in the NFC Championship game against LA, but didn't accumulate any statistics.

Reserve/future contract signings:

  • Running back Cam Akers
  • Wide receiver Tyrone Broden
  • Offensive tackle Logan Brown
  • Wide receiver Montorie Foster
  • Cornerback Tyler Hall
  • Safety Maxen Hook
  • Running back Velus Jones Jr.
  • Center Federico Maranges
  • Linebacker Chris Paul Jr.
  • Linebacker Jamie Sheriff
  • Nose tackle J.R. Singleton
  • Nose tackle Bubba Thomas
  • Linebacker Ja'Markis Weston
  • Wide receiver Ricky White III
  • Running back Jacardia Wright

A couple of names on the above list might get a Seattle Seahawks fan's attention, too. Ricky White was a draft pick in 2025, but appears to be purely a special teams player. He was quite good at blocking punts in college.

Jamie Sheriff has been a training camp star at times as a pass rusher, but might be a little undersized to be consistently good when the real games begin. Still, the team sees something in him, or general manager John Schneider wouldn't keep signing him.
