The Seattle Seahawks' 2024 NFL draft was an odd one. It was the first year that general manager John Schneider had full control over the roster, as former head coach Pete Carroll had been relieved of his duties after the 2023 season. Schneider's draft choices were extremely hit and miss.
First-round choice Byron Murphy II looks like a winner, and so does fourth-round selection AJ Barner. Fourth-rounder Tyrice Knight has gotten some starts, and he was fantastic in Week 10. The rest of the eight-member class, though? Not great.
Three of the class aren't even part of the Seahawks organization anymore, and third-round pick Christian Haynes has been injured all season. Fifth-round pick Nehemiah Pritchett looked like a loss, too, until the game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, that is.
Seattle Seahawks' Nehemiah Pritchett makes one of the best plays you will ever see
Any chance Pritchett has gone to play until the Cardinals game, he has looked, well...terrible. His quarterback rating allowed has been atrocious, he seemingly lacked the speed to cover receivers, and he was lost in terms of the scheme. He rarely saw the field because his doing so would have hurt the team.
Yet, shockingly, against Arizona, Pritchett played on 23 snaps, 18 of them on passing downs, and gave up just one completion on three targets, for only nine yards. That one did go for a touchdown, but on a good catch by wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
On the other two passes, Pritchett actually batted them away, and it was one in the end zone that will catch many Seattle Seahawks fans' eyes. The cornerback was able to knock the ball away, but in a way that wasn't simply astonishing for him, but for any corner.
Once again covering Harrison, the pass from quarterback Jacoby Brissett was tossed toward the end of the end zone and just beyond the reach of Pritchett initially. Harrison got his hands on the ball, but as both players were falling to the ground, Pritchett had the awareness to punch the ball clean from the wide receiver.

Maybe Nehemiah Pritchett had gotten beaten physically, though barely, but his football IQ to turn, aim for the ball, hit it, and cause the incompletion was incredible. In fact, the play might have proven that even while many have doubted that the Seattle Seahawks should be on the roster, he deserves to be. The play should also give him confidence moving forward. He's earned it.
