This Jake Bobo situation just got complicated for the Seahawks

How dare they!

The Seattle Seahawks could be five days away from losing wide receiver Jake Bobo. The fan-favorite wide receiver has been signed to an offer sheet with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Seattle has five days to match. The issue gets more complicated from there.

One is that if Seattle lets Bobo leave for the Jags, the Seahawks could pick up a draft pick in compensation for losing the player. Bobo was tendered by Seattle this offseason (a deal worth about $3.5 million), and likely didn't expect another team to make an offer. Jacksonville did.

Draft picks are obviously important for general manager John Schneider, especially as the team only has four in 2026, and already is projected to have 11 next year. The team hasn't spent much in free agency this offseason, but the talent that remained from this past Super Bowl-winning season should be enough to keep Seattle playoff-worthy next year.

Then, the team likely hopes to load up in 2027 with draft picks and potential free agent signings. The former part might involve Bobo and Schneider having to weigh whether he sees Bobo as more important to the Seahawks than a draft pick might be. The key is that Seattle would have to match the Jacksonville offer and the amount the Jaguars offered isn't yet known.

For Jaguars fans, they probably don't have any idea what they would be getting with the wide receiver. He is a fan favorite in Seattle because of his work ethic, his positive and outgoing personality, his ability to suddenly make an important play when no one expects it, and his willingness to do anything he possibly can to help the team win.

Jake Bobo isn't going to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars in receptions or receiving yards, but he is going to be the kind of glue guy that every team needs and fans love. He is a very good special teams player, and he is probably capable of producing more as a wide receiver than the Seattle Seahawks have needed.

Still, what is gained if he leaves might be of value to John Schneider. It would be sad to see Bobo leave, absolutely. But he will always have a special place in Seahawks fans' hearts.
