The Seattle Seahawks play in one of the most competitive divisions in all of football. The NFC West is absolutely stacked with talent, and one could make a case for three of the four teams as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
In fact, most fans may argue that beating the Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, and San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs might be tougher for any NFC side than taking down whichever teams come out of the AFC.
However, one NFC West team doesn't seem to belong in the same conversation. It will be a while before the Arizona Cardinals can sit at the contenders' table, and as such, most of their veteran players will always be tangled up in trade rumors.
Trey McBride says there are no Arizona Cardinals fans and praises Seattle Seahawks fans
That might be the case with star tight end Trey McBride pretty soon. And, after hearing him diss his own fan base and praise the Seahawks' fan base in his appearance on Bussin' With The Boys, perhaps Seahawks fans can dream about a big move.
First, McBride admitted that there actually weren't many Cardinals fans in Arizona. He argued that maybe winning more games might win over some people for a change. For now, it's all outsiders in the desert:
“It’s like, living in Arizona, everyone -- no one’s from Arizona,” McBride said. “Everyone comes and has moved in from another state. So, they’re all fans of their own teams. So, now you have the Arizona that sits there and there’s no Arizona fans in Arizona.”
Then, when asked about his favorite places to play and the best fans in the game, McBride chose a divisional rival. And even though he argued that he'd love to beat the Seahawks to change the power dynamics, he just had to tip his hat to The 12s:
“To be honest, it’s Seattle,” McBride said. “That’s a tough place to play. Their defense is a bunch of sh-t-talkers. They have a really good team, too. I feel like every time we go to Seattle, it’s such a hostile environment. Lumen field is such a cool place to play, and they’ve gotten the best of us the last couple of times.”
The writing is on the wall. He's already impressed by the fans and what head coach Mike Macdonald has going on in Seattle, and the Seahawks could use a playmaking tight end next to AJ Barner. Teams don't usually make big trades with divisional rivals, but one can dream.
McBride is signed through the 2029 season. He got a four-year, $76 million contract, though he'll make a $3 million base salary in 2026. That's a true bargain, and the Seahawks can certainly accommodate his contract in their books.
Of course, getting a player of his caliber will come at a steep price, and more so given that he's in the same division. That said, Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort has made his fair share of questionable moves, and the Myles Garrett trade showed that anyone can be had at the right price.
McBride has established himself as one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league, topping 800 yards in three of four seasons and 1100 in the last two. Despite his team's struggles and questionable quarterback situation, he's coming off hauling in 126 receptions on 169 targets for 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Seahawks have tradeable first- and second-round picks in the next couple of years, and with the Rams looking like a major threat to reclaim the division, John Schneider can't afford to ignore these comments and should try to get him.
