Tyler Lockett joining this AFC squad would be the least surprising move ever

Would anyone be shocked by this?

The Seattle Seahawks are tearing it all down and one of those many moves included parting ways with fan favorite wide receiver Tyler Lockett. The Seahawks spent a third-round pick on Lockett a decade ago and he went on to do great things in Seattle.

While Lockett could still end up back in Seattle, if he does land elsewhere, there are several spots that make sense for him. One that stands out above the rest, however, is the Las Vegas Raiders, who hired Pete Carroll as their next head coach and recently traded for former Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. Why not add another former Seahawk to their squad in Vegas?

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports loves the idea of Lockett ending up in Sin City.

"Released in a cost-cutting move by the Seahawks, Lockett is no spring chicken going on 33, and his numbers have dipped for three straight seasons. His downfield savviness could still be valuable in a reserve role, though, and Las Vegas offers strong Seattle connections in Pete Carroll and Geno Smith."

It makes sense when you think about it. The Raiders have brought in a former Seahawks coach and quarterback so why not add a former Seahawks wide receiver as well? It'd be a wise move to bring in a receiver who Smith has experience playing with and has built chemistry with. The Raiders would be foolish not to be considering this.

Lockett spent the entirety of his career to this point with the Seahawks, tallying nearly 8,600 yards and 61 touchdowns in 10 seasons in Seattle. He had 49 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns in 2024. Lockett was also known for his return skills, something he had branched away from in recent years.

While Seahawk fans would love to see Lockett return to Seattle, if he were to land with the Raiders, nobody would be surprised.
