The end of an era has arrived, as the Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Tyler Lockett. It's a sad day for Seahawks fans, as Lockett was a big part of the team over the last decade.

Lockett, a third-round pick by the Seahawks in 2015, was expected to take on more of a special teams role but became so much more than that. He finished his Seahawks career with just shy of 8,600 receiving yards and found the end zone 62 times (61 as a receiver, once as a runner).

There's no doubt that the Seahawks will miss Lockett (who penned an emotional good-bye to Seahawks fans) but a decision has been made and now it's time for the former third-round pick to move on. Where could he end up though? There's one team that seems to make too much sense for Lockett and that team is the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tyler Lockett to the Chiefs makes way too much sense

First and foremost, the Chiefs have a need for a veteran wide receiver and Lockett would fill that void for them. Secondly, he has family ties to the Chiefs, as his father, Kevin Lockett, played for the Chiefs as a wide receiver for four years after the team spent a second-round pick on him in the 1997 NFL Draft.

Lockett already followed in his father's footsteps collegiately, playing wide receiver at Kansas State University where he balled out for the Wildcats. Manhattan, Kansas is roughly a two and a half hour drive from Kansas City so Chiefs fans likely were watching Lockett closely when he was inching closer to entering the draft and wanted to see him come to Kansas City.

While the Seahawks ended up nabbing him in the draft and kept him all this time, this could be when Lockett returns 'home' and plays for the same team where his father's NFL career kicked off. Seahawks fans might be bummed thinking about Lockett going to another team, especially the villainous Chiefs, but it's better than him joining a division rival. Plus, he'd have a shot at winning a ring, which is something Seahawks fans would love for Lockett.

If there's one team that truly makes sense for Lockett in the next chapter of his career, it's got to be the Chiefs. Seahawks fans will root for him pretty much wherever he ends up (unless it's with a division rival, of course).
