Revenge has never tasted as sweet as it does right now for the Seattle Seahawks. They got the last laugh after losing their first meeting with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this season, and the timing couldn't have been better.
Barring a tie, which nearly happened, only one side was going to leave this battle of 11-3 clubs 12-3, and it was the Seahawks. They punched a ticket to the playoffs with their impressive, gritty, and gutsy 38-37 overtime comeback win over the Rams. Yet, somehow, that only feels like the tip of the iceberg of this colossal outcome.
Seattle just completely changed the complexion of the Super Bowl LX race at large with one hard-fought victory. Don't believe us? Look at the NFC standings following their improbable recovery against the Rams.
Seahawks suddenly control their destiny to No. 1 seed in the NFC standings
- Seattle Seahawks (12-3, first in NFC West)

- Los Angeles Rams (11-4, second in NFC West)
- San Francisco 49ers (10-4. third in NFC West)
- Green Bay Packers (9-4-1, second in NFC North)
- Detroit Lions (8-6, third in NFC North)

- Arizona Cardinals (3-11, fourth in NFC West)
- New York Giants (2-12, fourth in NFC East)
The Seahawks didn't just snap their two-year postseason drought, but they also overtook the Rams for first place in the division and conference. This puts Seattle in the driver's seat to claim its first NFC West title since 2020, and more importantly, the No. 1 seed.
If the Seahawks win out, they will secure a bye and home-field advantage through the NFC Championship Game. That includes a potential decisive regular-season finale on the road versus the San Francisco 49ers, though beating the Rams was (a massive) step one.
It took some favorable breaks, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and Seattle's perseverance was on full display. They pulled several rabbits out of their hat to overcome a 16-point deficit and defeat the Rams in a thrilling Thursday Night Football shootout.
