The Seattle Seahawks have had an eventful offseason, so far, to say the least. Who would have predicted a major quarterback change like the one we saw?
It's safe to say there weren't many who saw the switch from Geno Smith to Sam Darnold coming, but here we are, and the Seahawks continue to make strong moves.
On Friday evening, Seattle agreed to terms on a contract with free agent wide receiver Cooper Kupp, just a couple of days after his release from the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams had long been getting ready to part with Kupp, but it was just a matter of whether it'd be via trade or release. Now, he will get the chance at revenge twice a year after signing with Seattle.
If he stays healthy, Kupp is going to make for the perfect compliment to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The two of them are bound to be a problem for opposing defenses.
As for the rest of the wide receiver group, how does that look right now?
Updated Seahawks wide receiver depth chart
For right now, this is how we see things unfolding. Of course, there is plenty of room for change as free agency continues, the 2025 NFL Draft comes up and training camp takes place.
WR1: Jaxon Smith Njigba, Dareke Young
WR2: Cooper Kupp, Jake Bobo, John Rhys Plumlee
WR3: Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Cody White
Of course, there are some names above who likely won't end up making the final roster come September.
There is also something to be said about both Kupp and Smith-Njigba being excellent ouf of the slot.
One thing we might see unfold is the likes of Jake Bobo taking over the WR3 role from newly-signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The Seahawks like him a lot and he could get the chance at even more time on the field.
But, what's for certain is that Kupp and Smith-Njigba are going to be featured a lot. Seattle has done a solid job with some key positions to this point, wide receiver included. Now, it'll be interesting to see where they go when draft weekend rolls around.
