Lofa Tatupu: Seattle Seahawks Part Ways With Longtime Linebacker

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

“RENTON — The rebuilding of the Seahawks under Pete Carroll and John Schneider has been thorough, and as has been evident over the past week, the process does not leave room for nostalgia. The Seahawks released linebacker Lofa Tatupu on Sunday, parting ways with a three-time Pro Bowler who was the heart and soul of the defense for six seasons. Less than a week earlier, Seattle opted to move forward without longtime quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, instead choosing to sign Tarvaris Jackson.”…Read more

Seattle Seahawks Spotlight: The Quarterback Conundrum

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

“If you want to get people to call into your radio show, ask if Dave Krieg should be the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks.” I probably didn’t get that quote exactly right, and I don’t even remember who it was said it, but I do remember hearing that statement while listening to KJR a long time ago while driving home one day. Clearly the name involved has changed, but the sentiment hasn’t. Looking around the websites dedicated to the Seahawks, the most talked about player this week is the one that is no longer on the team. I’m referring, of course, to [...]

Seattle Seahawks Spotlight: Tarvaris Jackson Not Such a Bad Deal

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Well they did it.  They final addressed the glaring need that everyone has been talking about. The Seahawks finally have a quarterback. No disrespect the Charlie, but you have to believe that Tarvaris Jackson will be the starter. And why shouldn’t he be? He’s probably more familiar with the offense than anyone else on the team right now. Darrell Bevell has been the Vikings’ offensive coordinator for the last 5 seasons. Jackson’s career began five years ago with the Vikings. He’s the only guy that Jackson has ever known. They obviously have a good relationship, and who better to scout [...]

NFC West Gamble: Cardinals’ Kevin Kolb vs. Seahawks’ Tarvaris Jackson

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

After much speculation on Kevin Kolb’s value, the Arizona Cardinals have determined he is worth Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round draft pick…and $63 million over five years, $20 million of which is guaranteed. This move represents a huge gamble for head coach Ken Whisenhunt as he looks to find an answer at the quarterback position.  There is much speculation on if the Cardinals gave up too much, both in compensation to the Philadelphia Eagles and in Kolb’s contract, to acquire his services. Some critics and fans are applauding the decision, and the Cardinals did need to make a move [...]

Seattle Seahawks: Sidney Rice Joins Tarvaris Jackson and Darrell Bevell

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Seattle Seahawks have come to terms on a five-year, $44 million contract with Sidney Rice. He will again team up with Tarvaris Jackson and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, looking to bring his contributions in the Minnesota Vikings high-powered offense to Seattle. It was clear that Seattle was ready to move on from Matt Hasselbeck, but it is yet to be seen how the QB competition between Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst will play out. However, Jackson’s experience with Bevell’s system and with Rice make him the front runner. Rice is coming off of a major hip injury, which was his [...]

Sidney Rice Update: Seahawks in a Bidding War With Vikings

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Excitement is beginning to generate in the Emerald City, as reports are coming in from ESPN, the NFL Network and other various sources, that the Seahawks are close to a deal with WR Sidney Rice. Sources are also stating that the Minnesota Vikings are attempting to re-sign him.  It is being speculated that the teams offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, former vikings OC, is the main cause for the ‘Hawks trying to pick up the 6′-4″, 24-year-old stud. Acquiring Rice would reunite him with Bevell and Tavaris Jackson, who also recently played for the Vikes. Is this an indication that Jackson [...]

Seattle Seahawks Breaking News: Matt Leinart Decides to Stay With Texans

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Leinart’s decision to stay with the Houston Texans as a backup, appears to be based on the fact that he is looking for the best opportunity to have some playing time. With Charlie Whitehurst and Tarvaris Jackson already expected to compete for the top QB spot for the ‘Hawks, Leinart would have no guarantees that he would see any on-the-field action.
