The Seattle Seahawks will kick off the NFL season against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night and all eyes will be on the defending Super Bowl champs at CenturyLink Field.

More from Seattle Seahawks News

Everybody has a clean slate, both undefeated and winless, but the Seahawks will be looking to start the year 1-0 on their quest to make it to consecutive Super Bowls.

The Packers are not an easy opponent however, with a powerful passing game led by Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson and a fast rushing attack spear-headed by Eddie Lacy and James Starks.

Seattle’s No. 1-ranked defense will have their hands full but they should be able to take care of business in front of the 12th Man.

The Seahawks’ offense, led by Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, is also revved up and ready to go. With Percy Harvin healthy, Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse returning and Zach Miller taking over the tight end duties again, Seattle’s underrated offense will be looking to do some damage against the Packers, who gave up an average of 372 total yards per game last year.

The Packers will also be debuting their latest offseason addition: defensive end Julius Peppers, an eight-time Pro Bowler who has registered 119 sacks in his career.

Both teams are expected to win their respectable divisions, so this could be a possible playoff preview, although of course that would be months away.

For now, the Seahawks (and the Packers for that matter) just want to go 1-0 this week.

Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. PT but the Seahawks will be raising their first championship banner prior to the game.
