Seahawks RB Christine Michael: Fantasy and Injury News

Seattle Seahawks second-year running back Christine Michael is finally healthy and ready to contribute. If the team plans for him to is another story.

More from Seattle Seahawks News

The second round selection and first pick of the Seahawks in 2013 has appeared in only four regular season games. In those four games Michael has rushed 18 times for a total of 79 yards. Not what you’d expect from an early draft pick, especially a running back.

The Seahawks however didn’t draft for need when they took him so early. As the Seahawks were on the clock, the intrigue of choosing arguably the best running back in the draft was too enticing, especially with Marshawn Lynch getting to the point in his career where he’s going to be wearing down and in need of more rest. They had the luxury of developing Michael behind guys like Lynch and Robert Turbin so they made their choice with a look towards the future.

With a hamstring injury pipelining Michael up until now in 2014, it’s finally time to unwrap the gift and see what he can do with some on-field action. It’s still unknown if he’ll suit up against the Dallas Cowboys but he doesn’t appear on the Seahawks injury report.

If he is in uniform, expect him to see a few touches with the Seahawks facing a Dallas defense that struggles defending the run (122 ypg).

As far as fantasy numbers, it’s not an option to start Michael this week. In reality, it would take an injury to Marshawn Lynch to even consider adding Christine Michael into your starting lineup. Lynch has sat out many practices and he does frequent the injury list, but he’s listed as probable for today’s game.

You can be sure that when the time comes, he’ll be ready to fill the shoes of one of the greatest rushers in Seahawks history.
