Russell Wilson is everything a franchise wants in its signal caller. He’s calm in the pocket, he can run, he can throw, he’s accurate and he is very difficult to defend. His greatest attribute, however, is his passion for winning. Wilson never believes Seattle will lose, even when they’re down 19-7 late in the 4th quarter in the NFC Championship game against Green Bay.

In that game there were two elite quarterbacks with different reactions. Aaron Rodgers was seen smiling and walking around, while Russell Wilson was rallying the Seahawks, interacting with players. Rodgers was pointing fingers during the post game press conference, while Wilson takes the heat whenever Seattle loses.

There isn’t a tool for NFL executives to measure a player’s heart and class.

Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are very confident quarterbacks. With Rodgers it’s been well documented about his feeling disrespected out of high school and before the draft. He needs to prove his abilities to show coaches they were wrong. Russell Wilson was passed over in the 2012 into the third round. He wants to prove how great his team is.

Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league, no question. It’s just that he’s more interested in Aaron Rodgers than the Packers.

The Seahawks and their fan base wouldn’t trade Wilson for any other quarterback. He’s a leader, a coach on the field, an eternal optimist and a dedicated student of the game. Russell Wilson is the undisputed authority in the huddle and players listen to him.

With the draft right around the corner, each player picked by Seattle knows two things about their new team: Who Pete Carroll is and who Russell Wilson is. With hard work and passion, coach and QB will know them as well. Carroll and Wilson understand mistakes will be made. Most important to them is how a player responds to adversity (Jevon Kearse).

In Seattle there’s no such thing as quitting or surrendering. Only winning.

So now it’s time for the Seahawks to reward their quarterback with a big-time contract. Don’t expect him to change or play with less enthusiasm. For Russell Wilson it’s about titles and team. As long as that fire continues to burn, the city of Seattle will be planning future parades.

Unlike Aaron Rodgers, Wilson plays his best for his team and city first. Class.
