Football camps, passing academies, building houses and schools, and charity fundraisers have all become a large part of the Seahawks off-season.

It’s not uncommon for players to spend March through June preparing for the next season. However it’s become common for player to take that time to try to give back to their communities. The Seahawks are no exception.

Seahawks center Justin Britt will provide three football camps (offensive line specific) and a wrestling camp. They’ll be held in his home state of Missouri and also in Washington state. Britt has also done a softball tournament the last two summers to raise funds for the Justin Britt Foundation. His foundation helps support the Lebanon, MO Youth Football Association. You can find more information regarding the football camps at JustinBritt68.com.

Defensive end Cliff Avril has a very busy summer planned for himself. We all know about his fantastic1 sack/1 house in Haiti pledge.  However, his foundation is also holding a football camp, family fun day, and his annual Beat The Bridge walk to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes research. You can see all the events at CliffAvrilFamilyFoundation.org.

Kam Chancellor is well known for the giant Memorial Day BBQ he throws every year in Norfolk, VA, but he also has a celebrity basketball game the same weekend. By bringing his teammates and local celebrities to play, the game helps fund his Kam Cares foundation. Kam Cares helps equip inner city kids with tools for health, wellness, and education. Then of course, are the well-known Russell Wilson Passing Academy camps (2017 dates TBD), and the Richard Sherman Celebrity Softball Game in July. The Bennett Foundation (Michael Bennett and brother Martellus) Charity dinner and auction in May is always a huge hit, raising money to fight childhood obesity.

These events are a great way for players to give back and interact with their fans. It is also allows them to highlight issues and charities that are important to them personally. I encourage all of you to check out player’s websites for more information.
