Seahawks 2009 Schedule

Below is a quick look at the 2009 schedule, released yesterday by the NFL. I apologize for the late posting, but unfortunately my work schedule conflicted with the 4 PM announcement. I’ve sent a letter to Roger Goodell, and I expect to see things changed by next year.

Anyways, there isn’t much to be happy about in Seattle in regards to the scheduling, especially since we’re coming off a miserable 4-12 season. For the first time in 25 years, the Seahawks will not play prime time game. We draw six 10 AM starts (somewhat expected as a team on the west coast, but no less disappointing), and we only have one home game in the month of November.

On the bright side, the Seahawks may crack the prime time schedule if they are successful next season; the relatively new flex scheduling allows the networks to swap their original game with a more preferable (and competitive) matchup. Along with that, we open the first game of the 2009 season at Qwest Field, and our bye week is conveniently placed during week seven.

In my opinion, dissecting a schedule and making predictions in April is useless; it is very hard to predict how good or bad teams will play, regardless of their 2009 performance. I would’ve liked to have seen a more accommodating travel schedule, but it is what it is. It will still come down to who plays better on the field, and the only thing that matters in the end is the scoreboard.

What do you think about the 2009 schedule, 12th Man?
