The only Seahawk who  received votes was the one on my ballot. CB Richard Sherman received 2 2nd place votes, one of which being mine. You have to think that if he’d been a starter at the beginning of the season that he’d be higher on that list.

Aldon Smith was 4th on my ballot, but clearly the other voters didn’t see it that way. I personally think he’s overrated. If he wasn’t playing next to Justin Smith, who’s a legitimate defensive player of the year candidate, Aldon Smith would have never put up the stats that he did.

I also completely missed JJ Watt as a legitimate candidate. Statistically he is. He made a huge impact on the Texans this season. I think I overlooked him because he wasn’t a leader on his defense. He just wasn’t in the spotlight, but that shouldn’t mean that someone isn’t eligible for the award. I clearly made a mistake in failing to consider him.
