Seahawks Mock Draft Results
By Keith Myers
Fansided does some pretty awesome things. Sure I’m a little biased since they made me the editor of this site, but lets not get too distracted from the point. They do some pretty awesome things, and one of them is keeping a database of over 200 Mock Drafts.
While I don’t have time right now to go through all of them, I thought I’d give you a taste of some of the players that the different draft experts have the Seahawks taking in 15 of those Mock Drafts:
Website | Player |
CBS – Rob Rang | Nick Perry, DE |
CBS – Dane Brugler | Ryan Tannehill, QB |
The New Draft | Quinton Coples, DT/DE |
Draft Day Insider | Jerel Worthy, DT |
Draft Dog | Michael Brockers, DT |
NFL Mocks | David Wilson, RB |
NFL Draft Jones | Devon Still, DT |
NFL Yost Draft | Ryan Tannehill, QB |
NFL Draft Geek | Whitney Marcilus, DE |
Side Lion Report | Quinton Coples, DE/DT |
The Landry Hat | Quinton Coples, DE/DT |
With the First Pick | Andre Branch, DE/OLB |
NFL Spin Zone | Ryan Tannehill, QB |
ESPN – Mel Kiper | Melvin Ingram, DE |
That’s only 14. The 15th would be mine, which has the Seahawks taking DE Nick Perry.
There’s also a few really dumb picks that I chose not to include on the list, including Landry Jones who is not in the draft, Nick Foles who’s a 3rd round pick at best. So I just skipped those.
As you can see, there is hardly a consensus. The 2 most common picks are Tannehill, who isn’t good enough for the 12th pick, and Coples, who really doesn’t fit the modified 4-3 that the Seahawks run.
If there is one thing to learn from this, it’s that many of the sites see the Seahawks taking a defensive lineman who can help rush the passer. That is something that I can definitely agree with.
