Seahawks Don’t Seem To Value Linebacker Position
By Keith Myers
Just how important is linebacker to the Seahawks? John Schneider has spent the last 2 years eliminating all of the big contracts from the position. It would appear that he and Pete Carroll don’t put much value in the linebacker position.
Looking around then web you see both sides now predicting to see how to take at least 2 linebackers in the first 3 rounds of the draft. but perhaps we’re over thinking this. KJ Wright was the best linebacker on the team, and was a late round pick last year.
This defense is clearly built around the defensive line and secondary. Linebacker seems like an afterthought on the overall defense. It is entirely possible that the Seahawks will forgo drafting a linebacker early, and simply wait and try and find a decent player or 2 later in the draft.
I’m not trying to say that this is what should happen, or even what will happen. What I’m trying to say is that just because the Seahawks are very light in LB talent at the moment, doesn’t mean that they will be forced to burn multiple early draft picks on the position.
