Seahawks Draft Rumors
By Keith Myers
As we get closer to the start of the draft, the rumors have begun flying around the NFL. While most of these rumors have no legs whatsoever, a few of them are actually interesting so I thought I’d pass them along. I’ll update this posts with any new ones as they arise.
1) The Patriots have apparently expressed interest in trading both of their first round picks, numbers 27 and 31, to the Seahawks for the #12 overall pick. The Patriot are hoping to pick up a big time defensive linemen like Micheal Brokers, Quintin Coples or Fletcher Cox. I think the Seahawks would love for this to take place, but I doubt it will happen.
2) Everyone is going crazy about the Seahawks picking Ryan Tannehill is he drops to #12. Don’t believe it. This is just a smoke screen, similar to the Seahawks reported love for Andy Dalton this time a year ago. The Seahawks passed on Dalton then, and they’ll pass on Tannehill now. Pete Carroll and John Schneider aren’t stupid, they wont the media anything about players they like. So when they go out of their way to talk about a player like Tannehill, it’s an indication that they aren’t interested at all. Such is the gamesmanship of the Draft.
3) The Giants are hoping to trade Osi Umenyiora, and the Seahawks seem an obvious possible landing place for him. Just don’t plan on it happening today. There’s no way anyone gives up a first round pick for the injury prone and mercurial pass rusher. If he moves, expect it to be tomorrow for a third round pick.
