Percy Harvin coming to Seattle in a trade yesterday created a ton of buzz for the Seahawks, but it also created a number of questions. How will they pay for him? What did they give up to get him? and most importantly, what number will he wear?
Ok, so maybe that wasn’t the most important question, but people are asking anyways.
It isnt going to be 12. Lets get that out of the way. Harvin has worn 12 during his entire NFL career with the Vikings. The Seahawks retired 12 years ago for us, the 12th man, and no one is going to wear it but the fans. Sorry Percy, you gotta pick another one.
#1 is an option. He wore that in college, it’s fitting for a WR/KR/RB, and he’ll likely be te #1 highly paid player on the team.
Or how about #8, another number he wore in college. It’s usually a number for a QB, so maybe it’ll help hide him from opposing defenses, right? Ok, maybe not.
I’ve seen some people suggest 17. Sydney Rice is #18, and Harvin would want to be 1 better than his former (and once again current) teammate.
My vote is for #21. why? Because he’s fast enough that it might look like 12 when he’s scoring touchdowns. That alone would make it awesome!
