It’s Been An Honor

Why go to a game if you’re not going to dress up like an idiot in the process? That’s me a couple years ago at CenturyLink. Photo Credit: My wife Posted with permission. Not to be re-used, on this site or any other.

Today is a bittersweet day for me. Partly this is because we have to say goodbye to many Seahawks players, while at the same time being excited for the upcoming season that starts in just 7 days. Partly, this is because today is the day that I leave 12th Man Rising and move on to the next phase of my life as a sportswriter.

Don’t worry though, 12th Man Rising is going to be in great hands. The network has chosen 2 of the current staff to replace me, and I know that they will do an excellent job. I have full confidence that Nick and Mitch will represent the 12th Man well.

I’m pausing in the metaphorical door to fondly look back at the last 2 years. I’ve done my best to provide honest, insightful, and entertaining content for everyone to read. Judging by the ever-increasing site traffic, I believe that there are at least a few people out there who’ve enjoyed it. As a writer, that’s all I can ever ask for.

I’d like to give a HUGE shout out to Fansided for believing in me and giving me a chance to write about the team that I love. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to turn over one of their NFL sites to a physicist with poor spelling and grammar, but they did so with a smile and have been nothing but supportive. I’d like to specifically thank, Zac Snyder, Patrick Allen and Ernie Padaon, who’ve put up with my own patented version of crazy on a regular basis. I can assure you that there are countless others behind the scenes, some of which I’m sure I don’t even know, that deserve thanks as well. So to everyone at Fansided, Thank you.

I need to also mention my wife and kids here. My commitment to 12th Man Rising hasn’t always been easy on them. There’s been plenty of early mornings, very late nights, and me being distracted in between. They’ve been extremely supportive at all times, and I can’t begin to describe how appreciative I am. I am truly a blessed man.

Ultimately, it has been an absolute honor to represent the 12th Man each and every day here on 12th Man Rising. The Seahawks have the absolute best fans in the world, and I’m very glad to be counted among them.
