Final Analysis

We know about Kevin Pierre-Louis and O’Brien Schofield, but this Coyle kid has a chance to be yet another steal by the Seattle brass if his stats are any indication. Obviously he was ignored during the draft because of his small-school status but that some had him as high as a fourth or fifth round option says something.

The only question is who goes? The Seahawks are known as one of the deepest defensive units in the game today but someone will have to step aside for KP-L and possibly another for Coyle, if he makes it. Like I pointed out, Farwell is the most likely option as he has accrued 10 years of wear-and-tear and was never the most athletic guy anyway, but he’s just so solid for Seattle’s special teams that he’s tough to replace. Still, he’s costing the Hawks more than he’s worth on veteran-salary and should easily be replaceable this season with these additions.

Another option is Mike Morgan, who did a pretty stellar job of backing up Wags last season for a couple games. He’s always been just good enough to make the roster, but he’s not so good that he’s irreplaceable there. Yet a third option is dropping Schofield himself, which I don’t see happening but you never know. We can’t forget about Korey Toomer whose potenial the Seahawks love. He is coming back from injury, so if he, Coyle and KP-L somehow all stick we could be looking at a much younger and very different LB corps going into 2014. We may examine that more as we move through this offseason.
