Is Seattle’s Legion of Boom a Bust in 2014?

And finally, Richard Sherman is the brain AND mouth of this trio. Here marked my second surprise. After being ignored by Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers in game 1, and being given a larger stretch of field out of necessity, Sherman is quietly on pace to have a better year this year then he had last year (except for interceptions). His numbers for last year were 48 combined, 38 solos and 10 assists. His pace this year is 59, 51 and 8. We’ll take it.
Numbers can be dry and take a while to digest. They are also arbitrary in some respects and can be skewed even more by just one bad or great game.
What is the takeaway from this? Earl Thomas needs to relight his fire, somehow. Kam Chancellor is one word, amazing, and Richard Sherman is maturing as a player. The positives appear to outweigh the negatives. Keep the pace, improve where needed and perhaps Carolina’s twin towers of Greg Olsen and Kelvin Benjamin will be a challenge met and conquered, just like Jimmy Graham.
