Doug Baldwin had a lot to say at the end of the game during two of his post game interviews, which isn’t anything new for the receiver. He’s known by his teammates as “Angry Doug”, for often being upset for not being respected enough.
He went off on Deion Sanders and had a emotional ranting tangent on a reporter while heading into the locker room.
When asked by NFL Media’s Steve Wyche about the resiliency of the Seahawks’ receivers Sunday, Baldwin answered with “I don’t know, that’s just what ‘pedestrian, average, mediocre’ receivers do. What’s up my man Deion Sanders? We ‘aiiiiight,’ huh? We ‘aiiiiight’? Yeah we ‘aiiight.’ We are going to go to the Super Bowl again being ‘aiight’.”
The Seahawks were down 16-0 in the first half in the NFC Championship Game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Who wouldn’t doubt after that? Then they went down 19-7. Who wouldn’t doubt after that? Russell Wilson threw four interceptions. Who wouldn’t doubt after that?
Well, wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who had six receptions for 106 yards, had a few words for the people who did doubt. And not only them, but another set of people as well.
Watch here.
"“Are you ready for this?” Baldwin said. “Are you? How many of you yall doubted us? How many of you doubted us when we were 3-3? Y’all, I want you to write this down. Write this down, OK?”“When we were 3-3, everyone counted us out. Y’all didn’t believe in us. A whole bunch of people thought we weren’t going to make it. At 6-4, it was, ‘Ah, that’s OK. They have a winning record, but they aren’t going to make the playoffs.’“At 16-0 at the half, how many of yall counted us out? How many of y’all doubted us?”“It is indicative of our season,” Baldwin said. “Y’all didn’t want to believe in us. It’s OK. We don’t need you to believe. We’re going to believe in ourselves. We ain’t worried about yall. We are worried about ourselves.”“When we were down 16-0 at the half, guess what we said? ‘Don’t trip.’ You don’t win the game in the first half. You win it in the second half. We did what we do. We played Seahawks football. And now, we’ll see y’all at the Super Bowl.” (Transcribed from espn.com)"
Some Seattle fans left in the 3rd quarter after realizing that their team wasn’t playing to their full potential and weren’t making a trip to Arizona this year.
But that turned out to be a huge mistake. Seattle pulled off the 3rd-largest comeback in NFL history against the Green Bay Packers, scoring 15 points in the final 2:09 of regulation. The Seahawks then won the game — and advanced to the Super Bowl — in overtime on Russell Wilson’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse. The fans trying to get back into the stadium only have themselves to blame for giving up on their team.
This reminds us of the Miami Heat fans who left Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals early.
Never leave a game before the final whistle. Just wait on it.
