6. Corey Peters, Arizona Cardinals
Contract: 3 years, $9.2 million
On paper, the Cardinal replaced Darnell Dockett with Peters at a fraction of the cost. The thing is, Dockett didn’t play last season, so they just added Peters to the rotation on an already-good defense.
Peters is no star, but he’s still an above average player who will be making below average money. This is an incredibly team friendly contract that only makes the Cardinals better.
5. Stephen Paea, Washington
Contract: 4 years, $21 million
There aren’t a lot of great interior pass-rushers in the NFL. Those that exist are worth paying even if they aren’t every-down players. That is exactly what Paea is. He is a difference maker when used in the correct rotation with other players.
$21 million is very little for a player of Paea’s caliber, especially over 4 years. He is also only 26 years old. Washington is getting a very good player in the prime of his career.
