More from Seattle Seahawks Draft

The Seahawks begin the draft will eleven picks, but their first doesn’t come until pick 63. They traded their first round pick to New Orleans as part of the deal that brought tight end Jimmy Graham to Seattle.

That means that, barring a crazy and unexpected trade, the Seahawks won’t be active on the first day of the draft. They get to sit there on Thursday and watch the drama just like all the NFL fans.

The Seahawks have two very important picks on Friday, but the fun really gets going on Saturday. Nine of Seattle’s eleven picks are on Day three.

That many picks means not all of these guys are going to make the roster. Some will start the season the on the practice squad. Others might not be with the team at all. Its a tough business, and getting drafted only means that the player will have a chance to make the team, it doesn’t guarantee them a spot. That fact is why we see general manager John Schneider acquire so many picks.

He drafts a lot of “boom or bust” prospects, keeps the ones that work out, and dumps the others. By drafting in volume, he can do that and still inject enough new player into the roster each season to prevent it from getting too old. It also means that Schneider doesn’t typically select high profile players that everyone has heard of before. Luckily, that’s why we’re here.

We’ll have profiles of each player up shortly after each Seahawks pick.
