Seattle Seahawks draft profiles: Every 2015 UDFA
By Keith Myers
Rod Smith, RB, Ohio State
The Seahawks are set at running back with Marshawn Lynch, Robert Turbin and Christine Michael. Of course, it never hurts to have extra guys in camp in case someone gets hurt. That is where Rod Smith from Ohio State comes in.
Smith is big for the position. He’s 6’2.5″ and over 230 pounds. This makes me think the team may convert him to a fullback. They haven’t said anything about it though.
He’s also another guy with a troubled past. The Seahawks seem to be compiling a bunch of those guys this year.
One thing to note with Smith is that he was highly active and willing special teams contributor for the Buckeyes. Urban Meyer even praised his work there, right up until he kicked Smith off the team. If he is going to make the Seahawks roster, Smith had better continue to be good on special teams.
