Coffee with the Seahawks: Links for June 24th
By Keith Myers
Here is your reading list for of Seahawks topic from around the web for Wednesday June 25th. Hopefully this’ll help you you occupied while we wait for training camp tickets to become available tomorrow morning.
Usually I try and curate these links into topics, but that isn’t the case this time. Perhaps it is just that we’re in the infamous “dead period” of the offense, but there just wasn’t a common thread in the topics covered this week. Somehow, I don’t think you’ll mind.
Wilson: “I’ve weathered adversity before.” (ESPN)
When asked about his contract situation, Wilson came up with an interesting, and direct, message for the Seahawks. He talked about having to transfer to Wisconsin when NC State no longer wanted him. It was a definite shot across the bow of Seahawks management, and a statement that Wilson is prepared to continue to play hardball in contract talks.
Kris Richard named top-10 defensive coordinator (247sports)
He’s never called defensive plays or come up with a defensive gameplay before. He was just promoted a couple of months ago, yet he is still already better than just nine of his peers? It seems weird when you think about it that way. Clearly the expectations are very high for Richard.
Marshawn Lynch appears on Animal Planet’s ‘Tanked’ (Seahawks.com)
For a guy who’ll only talk to the media to avoid getting fined, Lynch is sure has been visible this offseason. This time, he appeared on the cable channel’s show dedicated to building custom fish tanks. They built him a Skittles-Beast Mode tank that was pretty sweet.
John Moffitt un-retired (iSports)
Former Seahawks draft bust John Moffitt un-retired this week and was immediately released by Denver (which still held his rights). He’s apparently been training with Jay Glazer and is finally in shape, which is something he never was when with the Seahawks. Don’t be expecting the Seahawks to sign him though. The Seahawks traded Moffitt twice in a 24 hour period before the 2013 season, Both times it was for a guy who wasn’t going to make the final 53 man roster. It is safe to say that ship has sailed.
