Irvin’s first sack came on third down of the Panthers’ opening drive. The 27-year-old took Newton down 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage to force a punt. Irvin’s second sack occurred during Carolina’s game winning drive in the 4th quarter. The Panthers had just crossed into Seattle territory when Irvin sacked Newton for a 9-yard loss.
Unfortunately, the Seahawks went on to lose the game, but Irvin did his best to slow down the Panthers’ attack. Hopefully, Bruce’s strong showing this past weekend will carry over into Thursday night’s big game against the 49ers.
