Seahawks working on contract extension with Pete Carroll

Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks are working on another contract extension. Hopefully it’ll keep him Seattle until he decides to retire.
Seattle Seahawks fan can breathe a sigh of relief. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, the team and head coach Pete Carroll are working on a contract extension.
Carroll sighed a three year extension back in 2014. Coaches never want to to be in a lame-duck situation, so extensions are typically worked out a year early.
The 65-year old Carroll is currently the oldest head coach in the NFL. Since returning to the NFL have a decade at USC, he’s also been one of the most successful coaches in the NFL.
There has been a lot of fear that Carroll would leave for the Rams next year after Jeff Fisher is finally fired. Carroll’s contract would be up, and he’d have a chance to return to Los Angeles.
That fear has never been justified though. There is no way Carroll is going to leave a situation where he has total control, a championship caliber roster, and an established culture to start completely over with another team.
That wasn’t going to happen. LA fans can dream about it, but that’s as close as they’ll get to stealing him from Seattle.
Carroll is very well paid, but he’s worth every penny. This new deal will certainly give him a raise too. I expect that keeping him in the top 3 will be written into any deal that they work out.
