Seahawks Draft Prospect Profile, CB James Bradberry
By Dan Viens
With the NFL scouting combine underway in Indianapolis, we take a look at some possible Seattle Seahawks draft targets.
The NFL Draft is fast approaching and teams all around the NFL are working furiously to put together their draft boards. For the Seattle Seahawks, this is a crucial year for GM John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll. The last couple of drafts have produced more depth than superstars, but with their high-priced young core now causing annual salary cap constraints, they find themselves needing to hit on a couple starter-quality players this time around.
Let’s take a look at some players who may appear to be a fit in Seattle, regardless of round.
JAMES BRADBERRY, CB, Samford
Bradberry was a four year starter at Samford after transferring from Arkansas State because the coaches there wanted him to play safety. Named first team all conference as a senior.

STRENGTHS: Accomplished at the position after starting all four years in college at outside corner back. Uses his incredibly long arms well in press coverage and has played off-man and zone as well. Rare size/speed combination for a corner.
WEAKNESSES: Gave up too much cushion against smaller-quicker WR’s in Senior Bowl practices. Needs to improve tackling technique.
HOW HE WOULD FIT FOR THE SEAHAWKS: From a physical standpoint, Bradberry looks every bit the ideal Seahawks cornerback. He has the long arms they love and impressive speed. As with any longer CB, the question will be can he matchup with smaller WR’s. Looked overmatched at times at the Senior Bowl but that’s to be expected for any smaller school player.

Unlike the other corner backs we’ve profiled, however, Bradberry won’t require a high draft pick to acquire. Currently, NFLDRAFTSCOUT.com has him projected in the first round. The Seahawks dealt their own 5th round pick to Kansas City for S Kelcie McCray last year, but are expected to gain a compensatory pick at the end of that round as compensation for losing free agent James Carpenter.
