Seahawks 7 Round Mock Draft
By Dan Viens
4th Round: Travis Feeney, OLB, Washington
Local football fans know Feeney well, as he enjoyed a breakout season in 2015 playing for the hometown Huskies. Feeney is one of those players who made himself some money at the combine, clocking a 4.5 second 40 time to go along with a 40″ vertical jump. Standing 6’4″, 230 lbs and with long arms, Feeney could be precisely the hybrid DE/OLB the Seahawks tried to make Bruce Irvin into the last four years. The former safety is comfortable dropping into covereage, but notched 8 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss his senior year when turned lose on the QB as well. Irvin is an unrestriced free agent who may chase bigger dollars in another city. Feeney would be an intriguing candidate to compete for his spot.
5th Round (compensatory): James Bradberry, CB, Samford
We profiled Bradberry here after his impressive combine performance. He’s a small school stud who looks the part of the big CB Seattle has become known for. A four year starter, his experience in press coverage might make his learning curve a little easier than other potential corner back prospects.
6th Round (compensatory): Marquise Williams, QB, North Carolina
Williams is an outstanding athlete who was known for his running ability early in his Tar Heel career, but the four year starter improved as a passer. By the time he was finished he had thrown for nearly 8,000 yards with 61 TD passes to 25 interceptions. The general consensus seems to be that the Hawks will be looking for a young backup QB to groom behind star Russell Wilson, with Tarvaris Jackson seeking a better opportunity for playing time elsewhere.
7th Round: (Acquired in Christine Michael trade) Brandon Shell, OT, South Carolina
Shell is a massive tackle prospect (6’5″ 324 lbs) with nearly 35″ arms. He’s known as a road-grading right tackle capable of pushing defenders 10 yards downfield and finishing blocks, but with enough athleticism for his size to be hold his own in pass protection. Scouts feel he’s strictly a right tackle in the NFL, but if Russell Okung leaves in free agency and the Hawks consider flipping Gary Gilliam over to the left side, a player like Shell could bring great value in the 7th round.
7th Round: Matt Judon, DE, Grand Valley State
Judon was one of the most dominating small school players in the country, and has the measurables to make him an intriguing NFL prospect. He won the Gene Upshaw award as the best defensive lineman in the nation in 2015, and racked up 28.5 sacks to go along with 42.5 tackles for loss and 7 forced fumbles the last two seasons. At 6’3″ 275 pounds and arms measuring nearly 34″ he looks the part of a Seahawks LEO.
