#3 Brandon Browner

Why worry about a guy on a non-guaranteed contract, in the twilight of his career, coming off a bad year?

Because the Seahawks have carved out a specific niche for Browner, and it’s a role that might just take care of the one glaring weakness that cost this defense a couple of wins in 2015.

Browner was signed to be a sort of hybrid safety-linebacker-cornerback. Pete Carroll has talked about the special role he has in mind for BB, in particular his responsibility with regard to covering tight ends.

Remember how hard that was for Seattle last year? Elite tight ends carved this team up. Whether it was Tyler Eifert one week or Greg Olsen the next, it was a gaping hole in their arsenal, most notably on third down.

If Browner doesn’t have anything left in the tank it could be back to status quo, and covering good TE’s could once again be a weakness in Seattle.
