5 Seahawks training camp sleepers
By Dan Viens
Montese Overton, DE, East Carolina (UDFA, rookie)
David Perkins, DE, Illinois State (UDFA, rookie)
We listed these guys together because of how similar they are in size, playing style and opportunity. Both are undersized (Perkins 6-2, 233 and Overton at 6-1, 226) but both come off the edge with their hair on fire. Both made positive impressions in OTA’s and mini-camps and drew the public praise of Pete Carroll.
There aren’t many opportunities for defensive linemen to make this roster, but if one of these small-school pass rush specialists shows in camp that they could be a QB terror in the future, the team may feel it would be too much of a risk to try and sneak them on the practice squad. And if either has a truly outstanding camp, they could work their way into a situational role as a pass rusher.
