Seahawks: 5 (surprising) players I’m excited to see play on Saturday
By Keith Myers
3. Ryan Robinson
If your first response to seeing that name is “who?” I won’t be surprised. The most newsworthy thing Robinson has done with the Seahawks thus far is tear his Achilles tendon in minicamp a year ago.
Before that, Robinson surprised all of us by regularly getting reps at defensive end with the No. 1 defense. He was, at least according to the practice rotation, above Cassius Marsh on the depth chart at that point.
Now he’s back and healthy again, and has quietly looked explosive in practice. Robinson has been giving the offensive linemen fits in 1-on-1 drills, and at times has looked every bit as tough to block as Michael Bennett.
Saturday’s game will be the first live game snaps that we’ll have of Robinson in Seattle’s defense. It’ll be a good test to see if he’s the hidden gem we expect him to be, or just a guy that shines only in practice.
