TREVONE BOYKIN MIGHT JUST HAVE WHAT IT TAKES:

There were definitely “oh crap, we need to go find another guy to be our backup quarterback!” moments out of the TCU rookie today, but also times where you could see why the team thinks he can be special. The mobility is a given, but he showed off top-tier arm strength a few times as well. He just missed on a wind-blown deep ball to Paul Richardson that was a longer fingernail away from being a first quarter TD, and the poise he showed in driving the team down for the eventual winning score in the final seconds was impressive.

Don’t discount that Hail Mary finish as “just a preseason moment.” Winning can be contagious, no matter when it happens. That finish can certainly help give Boykin the confidence he needs, and we may also look back later and realize that was our “Hey! Tanner McEvoy is a thing!” awakening.
