Seahawks: 5 takeaways from Seattle’s embarrassing loss to Tampa

5. At least the NFC West is bad

The one consolation here is that all 3 of the other teams in the NFC West also lost. Even with this loss, the other teams weren’t able to make up any ground in the standings.

The Seahawks still have a 3 game lead over Arizona, and each team only has five games remaining. We’ve reached the point in the season where there just aren’t enough games left in the season for anyone to challenge Seattle’s lead.

The Seahawks also still have a half-game on the Atlanta Falcons for the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Detroit isn’t likely win out and compete for a first-round bye. As long as Seattle can hold off the Falcons over the final five weeks, they’ll be set up for another solid playoff run.
