ROUND 3, PICK 1: COOPER KUPP, WR, Eastern Washington

OK, so this one may be a pick driven by bias, but there’s some logic to it as well.

While I considered high-upside edge rushers such as Houston’s Tyus Bowser or small school stud Tarell Bashum from Ohio, and even toyed with OT Antonio Garcia from Troy, Kupp is the pick here. We know the Seahawks love unique talents and are always looking for ways to upgrade the WR corps, and Kupp is simply the best route-runner in the draft. Most observers feel he excelled in Senior Bowl workouts, proving that he could stand out even against higher-caliber competition than he faced in Cheney. His ability to get open and catch everything thrown his way would endear him to QB Russell Wilson. Kupp could finally be the guy to beat out longtime fan punching bag Jermaine Kearse, particularly if he’s able to excel on special teams. Given a chance to learn from the best slot receiver in the league, Doug Baldwin, Kupp in the 3rd round could end up looking like a steal in a few years.
