3. Bobby Wagner, Linebacker

Wagner is the best middle – or inside – linebacker in the NFL. This is not because there aren’t great players at the position, like Luke Kuechly. Kuechly is great. Wagner is better.

Wagner runs a 4.5 40. He holds the Seahawks record, twice-over, for tackles in a season. No one covers sideline-to-sideline as well as Wagner. He received a vote for NFL MVP for the 2014 season from former coach Tony Dungy. Controversial? Yeah. Does that make it less worthy? Not at all.

Wagner makes this kind of difference with the defense: In that 2014 season where he received the MVP vote, the Seahawks gave up 20.4 points=per-game in five games Wagner was hurt. When he returned, Seattle gave up 6.5 points-a-game.

That was 2014. Wagner is no less important going into the 2017 season.
