Eight Best Players on the 2017 Seahawks Roster
By Lee Vowell
2. Russell Wilson, Quarterback
Wilson is an elite quarterback. I do not use the word elite often because it has become a cliche in football. What does elite mean? The best of the best? Top-five talent and productivity? In the general sense, who knows?
To me, elite means elevating a position group well above its potential. Wilson had his worst statistical year in 2016. This was due to him being nearly constantly injured. He had a pec injury. His knee was hurt. In week one, Wilson injured his ankle. His offensive line stunk.
Wilson had some bad games. Against Green Bay he was terrible. Five of Wilson’s 11 2016 interceptions came in that game. What did he do in the next two weeks? Wilson went a combined 48 for 71 for 579 yards and seven touchdowns and one interception. This is what the best-of-the-best quarterbacks do.
Would the Seahawks have won a Super Bowl in 2013 without Wilson? No. Would they have made the playoffs five straight years without him? Most likely not. Wilson is great. Get over it, doubters.
