It seems like every one of the Seahawks is on a diet these days. Now Jimmy Graham has dropped 20 pounds. Where will the madness end?

Weight loss seems to be the in thing for the Seahawks this offseason. Naturally, the first big story was all about the work Eddie Lacy is putting into his weight loss. Of course, Lacy has some pretty loaded incentives to maintain his newfound frame all year long. Then we heard about Russell Wilson’s training regimen. Wilson’s incentive is only to play for 25 years. No big deal, right? Now here comes the new sleek and svelte Jimmy Graham.

In an interview with John Clayton on 710 ESPN Seattle, Jimmy Graham lost 20 pounds in the offseason. So why exactly would a tight end want to drop that much weight? Turns out Graham got some strong advice from a guy who probably knows what he’s talking about.

"When I was younger, I could carry 270 around and run go routes, and it was no big deal. Now I’m getting a little bit older. I remember Tony Gonzalez told me, it was his last Pro Bowl, I had the honor of playing with him, and we were talking about weights and lifting and everything. He gave me some good gems. He said, ‘The older you get, you’ve got to shave a little bit of weight. Just for your joints. Just to keep that burst and that bend in your body.’ And he was very, very true."

Another reason we’ll see an even better Graham this year

Of course, Graham spent months rehabbing a torn patellar tendon leading up to last season. He still wasn’t quite up to par even then. This year though, things are looking up. When Clayton asked him how much better he feels now compared to last year, Graham chuckled and answered, “almost 100 times.” Take one additional year of healing. Now mix in 20 fewer pounds of stress on the knee. You have a recipe for success. And this is from the guy who was still third in receiving yards among all tight ends in 2016.

Thankfully, not all of the Seahawks have joined the new look skinny squad. Not while we have George Fant on his new eat everything mom cooks program. We love you , George!

One final note. I may not know much, but I do know this. If I read Tom Cable’s on a diet, it’s a sign of the Apocalypse, and I’m packing my bags. That’s where the madness ends.
